Christian proselytising?

Proselytising found only in Pakatan states?, 9 August 2012

‘There is no proselytising in KL because once these foreigners cross into Bangsar, Kerinchi or Sri Hartamas, they are scared to covert people.'

Penang on the hunt for 'Christian proselytisers'

Bledyfoo: I'm always suspicious of these allegations ... how come they always seem to surface in Pakatan Rakyat-controlled states? First Selangor, now Penang.

I checked out this API (Pertubuhan Aktivis Pengupayaan Insan) group, and for an NGO they are extremely political. I smell BN all over this.

ForTheNation: As usual, these so-called "protectors of Islam" have shot off their mouths without providing one single shred of evidence.

It's the same as someone saying, "There were some strange looking green coloured aliens at Padang Polo a few nights ago."

And when asked for details, they respond, "That's what I heard. We are still investigating, we will let you know more if we can get more info...".

Word to the wise: If you have nothing, don't issue any official statement.

Sinner: By all means, arrest the two foreigners. Shadows may be harder to arrest.

Amoker: The attempts to convert Muslims into Christians only happen in Pakatan states. Not even in Kuala Lumpur because once these foreigners/churches know that they are crossing into Bangsar, Kerinchi or Sri Hartamas, they are scared to covert people.

RR: Trishaw riders are really poor, whether Muslims or whatever. If money or food is offered, they will gladly accept them and thank the good Samaritans of whatever religion.

This is not proselytising but goodwill. Muslim leaders must be educated on this matter and they must not jump to conclusion that Muslims are being converted.

Muslims the world over know that they do not enjoy freedom of religion. They dare not convert for fear of forced rehabilitation or even death in the hands of fanatics.

So politicians and religious leaders should stop playing on sensitive religious issues as this will disturb peace and harmony of this nation. This is a dangerous way to win the general election.

Anonymous #41809171: "The trishaw man admitted he took RM50 from the two foreigners and was told they would be back to convert him. The teenagers at the fast-food restaurant in Gurney Drive were asked confusing questions about Islam."

I realise that fasting can lower one's defences, but are Muslims really the feeble-minded, vulnerable simpletons that the Islamic authorities make them out to be? Why can't they say "No!" or "Tak nak!"

The Biro Tatanegara (BTN) has done such an excellent job all these years. Why are they slipping up now?

Two Eye Ball: Apparently these people like state exco member Abdul Malik Abul Kassim have got nothing else better to do than to act on a fabricated story by Utusan Malaysia.

The newspaper has already lost twice in court and yet these people still react to the Umno mouthpiece which definitely has other intentions in mind. And just the other day, PM Najib Razak was reminding Malaysians not to politicise Islam.

Onyourtoes: Abdul Malik, why do you get so excited on something what was disclosed in Utusan?

Given Utusan's past patterns and behaviour, I think you should be investigating whether the newspaper is spreading false news aimed at causing anxiety and disunity among the people of Penang instead of going on a witch-hunt of non-existent foreign missionaries.

YF: What is deemed as preaching Christianity? Are Christians not allowed to speak about Christ to anyone? Why the narrow-minded view?

It's strange how some religious zealots react abruptly on some hearsay but do nothing when their Islam is being hijacked by porn, fitnah, corruption and every vile thing under the sun. Are Muslims that lemah (weak)?

Bangsa: What about Muslims proselytising us? Barely had I settled into a new house, my Muslim neighbours have not stopped preaching their brand of Islam to me, even presenting to me a copy of the translated Quran.

Should I report them to the authorities or even have them charged with destabilising religious and racial harmony?

By the way, the freedom to choose your personal belief is a gift from Allah, so said my Muslim friends and scholars. Sadly in Malaysia, the zealots are hijacking that very gift of freedom from Allah.

Anonymous_3e79: Let's declare all Malaysians can choose their religion. After all, we are all adults.

Joker: We don't know who 'tried' to spread Christianity to which Muslims. We don't know when and where exactly in Penang they tried to do this.

How they did it is also unclear although it is unlikely they used solar-powered Bibles since the past few days have been cloudy.

Maybe it is some new fangled fusion-powered smart Bible made from rare earth processed in Lynas. Maybe they came from Australia with the rare earth shipments.

Maybe they came recently with Lee Chong Wei en route from the London Olympics. Case closed.
