‘Trust’ Najib!, 7 February 2012
by Sam Peh

FEB 7 — Why all this cynicism about Najib Razak’s “trust me and I can help you” statement? This is a man who can be “trusted”.
Let us examine the evidence since he became prime minister in 2009.
He can be “trusted” to keep silent when Perkasa bashes the Chinese and Indians and questions the loyalty of non-Malays.
He can be “trusted” to keep silent when supporters of Umno drag a cow head through the streets in protest against the construction of a temple in Shah Alam.
He can be “trusted” to pretend to be deaf when Umno politicians make all sorts of accusations against Christians and Christianity. (Note to PM: Not all Indians are Hindus)
He can be “trusted” to understand that it’s fine for ministers’ families to get government soft loans and use the money for better-yielding purchases.
He can be “trusted” to use 1 Malaysia as a sticker for any venture that basically gives money to voters in return for support.
He can be “trusted” to allow state companies to be sold to government cronies and even national projects awarded without open tenders.
He can be “trusted” to start a health insurance scheme where the people have to pay, although the government provides primary health-care.
Please “trust” Najib to do what it takes to keep power.

Umno ‘disrupted’ harmonious Malaysia, 9 February 2012
by CT Ali

Almost every Umno government initiative is for the express purpose of widening the racial divide.
Scratch the surface of any endemic problem we have in Malaysia and invariably you will see the handiwork of a Malay politician somewhere very close to the surface.
Let us look at our racial problem. As this Umno government likes to remind us – race is the most fragile and delicate of issues in this nation of ours.
We are forbidden to discuss this as to do so would compromise our nation’s security.
Is it not this very Umno government by their overt divide and rule of the people of this nation that has caused the fragmentation of a once harmonious nation?
Almost every Umno government initiative is for the express purpose of widening the racial divide.
Let me quote a recent headline in the Umno controlled New Straits Times (NST). It reads: “Govt to address Christian issues”.
The first paragraph then goes on to say: “The government will implement several measures to address the concerns of the Malaysian Christian community, relating to the appointment of principals of mission schools, teaching of Bible knowledge as an examination subject and tax-exemption status for Christian organisations”.
The question we need to ask is this: Why in the first place was it necessary to appoint a Muslim to be principal of a Christian mission school?
Answer: The Malay Umno government call the shots. They do as they please. If it upsets racial sentiments so be it. The better for this Umno government to tell the Malays that the Malays must support this Malay Umno government so that these Christian mission schools will understand who is in control of this nation.
And if, as in this case, the damage done to the chances of this Malay Umno-led government to hold on to power in the 13th general election is affected, then change the original decision.
Criminals
This Malay Umno government is oblivious to the damage done to our nation by this slight upon the Catholics and what it would do to the relationship between the Christians and the Muslims.
All that matters to them is that this Malay Umno government has once again demonstrated to all and sundries that they can do as they please!
And so is born that belief that the Malays are obnoxious politicians more intent upon pushing their weight around then in ensuring we all live as one people.
So much for 1Malaysia.
Are these not also acts of criminality?
This Malay Umno-led government incarcerate Malaysians who they say are a threat to national security because these Malaysians want the right, as given under the constitution, to express their demand for free and fair elections!
And yet for themselves this same Malay Umno government do untold damage and further polarize an already widening racial divide by their action as in the appointment of a Muslim as principal of a Catholic mission school.
Again these criminal act by these Malay Umno politicians go unpunished.
So can you see why we Malays are now being lumped together with these Umno politicians because we are of the same race? Malays!
Of this Umno-led government, I can only say what the last Free Consul of Rome, Marcus Tullius Cicero, said of Mark Anthony before he was murdered by same: “Never was a government that was not composed of liars… malefactors and thieves”.
Financial scandals by Malay government
And we cannot complain much because we vote these morons into office. And these politicians are not only stupid but they are also criminally dishonest.
Our history will show you that whenever any massive financial scandals are exposed this Malay Umno-led government will be behind it!
And this same Malay Umno-led government think that they are doing us Malays a favour like Hitler thought he was doing the world a favor.
Like Pol Pot thought he was doing Cambodia a favor by killing 21% of his own people.
Not only are they pillaging and plundering our country but they also have the use of deadly force, PDRM and the army, to accomplish their tasks.
And like the scorpion in Aesop’s Fables that bit and killed the dog on whose back the scorpion was crossing the river, this Malay Umno-led government will destroy the very foundations of our society and with it, our country and our future.
And they care not if they themselves are destroyed with the falling of our nation because they would rather that happen then to have Pakatan Rakyat win the 13th general election.
In the years after Merdeka, Malaysia has been relentlessly raped by a government managed by Umno for Umno.
It is no longer corruption or bribery that they do because bribery is when the person gives money voluntarily.
What this Malay Umno-led government does and condones in Putrajaya is extortion because like PDRM and the various government machineries, they all ask for the money!
And that my friend is a criminal act. A criminal act done by this class of Malays who are politicians that have indeed given us Malays the undeserved reputation of being the biggest criminals in our own country.

Stop being moral guardians, Pas told, 9 February 2012
by Nuradilla Noorazam and Akil Yunus, KUALA LUMPUR(news@nst.com.my)

Youth wing should focus on pressing issues, says Sisters In Islam
PAS Youth must not regard themselves as "moral guardians" and impose their values on others without having a proper understanding on a specific issue.
Sisters in Islam (SIS) said Pas Youth was impinging on the unity and solidarity of all Malaysians with their latest endeavour, urging Muslims not to celebrate Valentine's Day as it would lead to immoral activities.

"The party clearly lacks consideration for non-Muslims and others who choose to celebrate Valentine's Day," a SIS representative said.

SIS argued that Pas Youth must stop imposing their values on others as their actions might backfire.

"The more they try to curtail such celebrations, the more people will question and celebrate it anyway out of defiance," she said to the New Straits Times yesterday.

SIS also urged Pas Youth to give more priority to other pressing issues in the Muslim community rather than picking on topics like Valentine's Day.

"It will be better for them to concentrate on other important matters like the backlog of syariah cases in court or the payment of alimony to wife and children."

SIS was responding to a statement by deputy Pas Youth chief Nik Abduh Nik Aziz on Tuesday urging the government to air anti-Valentine's Day advertisements in the media.

Nik Abduh said that they did not want the celebration to become a trend among Muslims.

Malaysia Muslim Youth Movement (Abim) president Amidi Abdul Manan said Pas Youth should not blindly regard Valentine's Day as a Christian tradition.

"Associating Valentine's Day with Christianity is rather unfounded as the origin of St. Valentine and the celebration is still under much debate. Pas must investigate the true origin of this celebration first before creating a commotion which offends other religions."

Amidi said Pas Youth must consider the approach of educating instead of punishing people over their personal choices.

"They should not focus only on Valentine's Day as a cause of immoral behaviours because this happens in our society every day."

National Youth Council president Mohamed Maliki Mohamed Rapiee said the latest initiative by Pas Youth against Valentine's Day was excessive.

"Immoral activities during Valentine's Day has not reached a critical level where an anti- Valentine's Day advertisement is required. Instead, it should be the responsibility of non-governmental organisations and religious institutions to create awareness on immoral activities."

Maliki also said Pas should be more comprehensive in their aim to save the akidah (beliefs) of Muslims in Malaysia.

Malaysia Hindu Sangam said it had no issue with the celebration provided it was practiced in accordance with "moral activities".

Its president, RS Mohan Shan, said Valentine's Day celebration had only become an issue as Malaysians chose to Westernise the concept.

"Young people dedicate this day to their loved ones by spending all their time with them. We don't need a special day to celebrate or show our love. Say your prayers and ask for blessings for you and your partner instead of socialising."
